Lorraine E. Matonovich , age 86 of Hammond was called home on Saturday February 9,2013.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Ronald (Pam) Matonovich, Jan Matonovich, John (Elizabeth) Matonovich, and Joyce Krukowski; siblings: Robert (Lucille) Burns, Dorothy (Chuck) Frenzel, Marie Sapyta, James (Jan) Burns; grandchildren: Christopher (Debi) Matonovich, James Matonovich, Susan (Doug) Lubotina, Peter Krukowski and Joey Krukowski and great-grandchildren: Taylor O'Brien, Colin Matonovich, Lily Matonovich, Kailynn Lubotina, and Owen Lubotina and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Alexander & Margaret (Berg) Burns; husband, Joseph; daughter, JoAnn; sister, Helen
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, Indiana Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 DIRECTLY at All Saints Church, 570 Sibley, Hammond, IN. Visitation beginning at 9: 30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Father Steve Kosinski celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond.
Lorraine was born in Calumet City, Illinois on December 23, 1926 and attended All Saints School and Hammond High School. Lorraine met her husband, Joe, while working together at GATX in East Chicago. They were married for 56 years. Lorraine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and best friend whose life centered on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorraine was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. She was also a member of FDR Club, Women's Jackson Club, Hessville Democratic Club, Highlander's Grandmothers Club, and a former Hammond Democratic Precinct Committeewoman.She lived her life serving others and was generous with her time and spirit. Lorraine loved baking (her awesome nut rolls, etc.), playing the organ, politics and Florida. She was an avid Notre Dame and Cubs fan.
