HESSVILLE, IN
Lorraine R. Chappey, age 88, has joined the angels on October 8, 2014 while residing in Wisconsin after battling Alzheimer's. She was born on May 13, 1926, daughter of Mike and Marie Fertal. She was united in marriage to John A. Chappey on June 1, 1946 and was married for 59 years before the death of her husband in 2005. Lorraine lived most of her life in Hessville where she raised four children. She was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and a member and officer of the Altar and Rosary Society. She worked at Carson Pirie Scott for many years and was a girl scout leader as well. Lorrained suffered many losses in her life and served the Lord in service and prayer. She led by example and her grandchildren were a special part of her life. Lorraine was preceded in death by two sons: one infant named Gerald Michael Chappey and John Michael Chappey killed in Vietnam in 1970; her parents, Mike and Marie Fertal; and her husband John Alvin Chappey. She is survived by her oldest daughter and best friend, Michelle (Dennis) Bollhorst of Wisconsin; daughter, Collette (Harold) Campbell of Vermont; son, Greg (Penny) Chappey of Indiana; daughter-in-law: Barbara Caesar of Georgia; grandsons: Nathan Bollhorst attending UW-LaCrosse; Matthew Bollhorst and Christopher Campbell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held DIRECTLY at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Dr., Crown Point, IN 46307 with Fr. Joseph Vamos, officiating on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens to follow. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of vistation on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond, IN 46323 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass at 10:00 a.m. "Mom enjoy eternal life in the company of your husband and sons, who were taken from you too soon. My heart will be empty, but your love will forever be with me." In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Hospice, Plattville, WI.
