Louise Messer, age 83, of Hammond, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 26,2017.

She is survived by her three Children: Linda J. Chambers, Terry Messer and James E. Messer; four grandchildren: Christopher W. Chambers, Christina L. Chambers, Kelly Messer and Tara Lynn Messer; three great grandchildren; one brother: Shiola (Nancy) Patrick; sister in law Shirley Patrick; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by her parents: Green and Vesty Patrick; beloved husband Herbie Messer; three brothers and two sisters.                                                                                        Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. directly at Cornerstone Church SBC, formerly Orchard Drive Baptist, 3425 Orchard Drive, Hammond, Hessville with Pastor Scott Ferry officiating. Burial will be private.                Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, January 30, 2017 for a time of visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church SBC, 3425 Orchard Drive, Hammond. There will also be a time of viewing at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Louise has been a resident of the Calumet Area for the past 52 years. She was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord and served Him willing as a member of Cornerstone Church. She loved being with the children and worked in the preschool Sunday School Class. Louise was the former owner of Linda's Corner grocery store at Sibley and State in Hammond. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
