Lowin DeWayne Church, age 60, of Crown Point, formerly of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Beverly Church and Paige Church; former wife, Sandra Church; several siblings and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his mother, Esther Benge; grandmother, Nellie "Granny" Church.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a memorial visitation on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held following the visitation at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Ferry officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation preceded the visitation.

Lowin was born and raised in London, KY and moved to the Calumet Area at age 16. He worked hard at his job as a Supervisor and mechanic at Mittal Steel, and retired in 2011 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Mittal 25 year club. Lowin was a true "outdoors man", he loved to fish and hunt. He was a hardworking man who dearly loved his family, and would always help people whenever there was a need. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
