Luis was born in Tanhuato, Michoacan, Mexico and lived most his adult life in Chicago. He came to this country with nothing and built a life through hard work in the Southside steel mills of Chicago. Luis worked almost 30 years at Wisconsin Steel. He believed in hard work and family. At one point he owned a restaurant, rehabbed several houses, and managed to put all of his kids through Catholic education . That work ethic that he instilled, along with teaching us to always do the right thing, giving back to the community and try to help each otherwhenever we can, produced numerous public servants, engineers, architects, lawyers, nurses, teachers, etc. He was a loving devoted husband, father and huge supporter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching all sports and looked forward to being with family. He will be deeply missed.
