Lynn R. Shephard, age 93, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.
Lynn was born on July 11, 1918 in Hammond where he made his home for 65 years before moving to Arkansas in 1986, and then Missouri in 1996. He was a laboratory technician at American Oil Co. and retired in 1977 after 31 years of service. Lynn was a U.S. Army veteran and served during WWII in the Philippine Liberation. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #717 in St. John. Lynn was a member of Griffith Lodge #735 F.&A.M. also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Orak Shrine in Michigan City.
He was the son of the late Rollin and Pearl (Williams) Shephard and was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian (Torpey) Shephard.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nellie Shephard;
1 daughter, Judy Whited of Florence, AL;
Step-daughter, Nancy (Alfred) Mills of Hammond
8 step-grandchildren;
26 step-great grandchildren, 12 step-great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Randy Harrison, Minister officiating. Burial will at follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, June 15th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
