Manuela Maldonado, age 82, of Hammond, was escorted by angels to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Risel Maldonado, Sr.;

Sons: Risel, Jr. (Ismelda) Maldonado,
Ruben (Annette) Maldonado, Robert (Denise) Maldonado;
20 grandchildren: John, Gar, Angelina, Risel III, Donald, Sabrina, Crystal, Walter, Natalie, Mario Jr., Selena, Charlie, Marissa, Alicia, Cara, Jamie, Alexis, Derek, Kristen, Alyssa.
4 great grandchildren;
Preceded in death by her daughter, Rosa Maria Hennessey and parents, Lino Rodriguez and Maria Salazar.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Manuela's life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Avenue, Highland with Father Edward Moszur celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and also Tuesday, November 4 th from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). There will also be a time of viewing at the church on Wednesday morning before the mass from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 4 th at 3:30 p.m.
Manuela was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas and moved to the Calumet Area to raise her family; while also working several jobs where she was always well loved and admired by all. She enjoyed traeveling, crafting and living life to it's fullest; which included spending a lot of time with Chico and Buddy, her ever present pets.
Manuela was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who has shown much kindness and devotion to her family and friends. She was courageous and inspirational and she brought an abundance of joy and laughter to all who knew and loved her.
