Marcel Ruiz, age 14, of Hammond, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 21, 2017.  He is survived by his parents, David Gutierrez and Claudia Elizabeth Chavez; two sisters: Abigail Ruiz and Claudia Gutierrez; one brother, David Gutierrez Jr., grandparents: Serafin and Maria Chavez.

Marcel was beginning his freshman year at the Hammond Area Career Academy. He was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Marcel enjoyed skate boarding and video games.
