Marguerita "Margie" McComas, age 65, of Hammond entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2024 while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 4, 1958 to James and Jane Griffith in Chicago Heights, IL.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years: Leroy Wayne; daughters: Crystal (Ken Dettloff) McComas and Dana (Rich) Radek; grandchildren: Kirsten Roark, Brock Holstein, Andrew and Matthew Dettloff; step-children: Willie McComas and Michael Arthur; step-grandchildren: Vance, Skyla, Haley and Mindy; 9 Siblings: Marie Griffith, Bobby (Cindy) Griffith, Diana (Rick) Deem, Jimmy (Sallie) Griffith, Randy (Polly) Griffith, Johnny (Mona) Griffith, Ronnie (Stacy) Griffith, Kevin Griffith and Tammy (Chris) Hixson; and her best friend (sister) of over 40 years Christine (Jeff) Ballard.

Preceded in death by parents, James and Jane Griffith; nephew: Steven Deem; mother-in-law: Georgia McComas; father-in-law, Harold McComas and sister-in-law: Vickie Radek.

Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Tuesday, May 28th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN 46323. A funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. and private cremation will follow.

Margie was born in Chicago Heights, IL and was raised in Hammond IN where she was a graduate of Hammond High School Class of 1976. She worked for many years at the Albanese Candy Factory and Vantils here in Hessville. Margie was a breast cancer survivor in 2018 and succumbed to lung cancer in 2024. She loved going to bingo and was an avid bowler at Plaza Lanes for many years. She would travel yearly to see her brother in Oklahoma and enjoyed playing bunco monthly with her extended family. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandkids and her daughter.
