Maria E. Villarruel, age 71, of Hammond passed on into eternal life on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Raphael Villarruel; two children: Raphael Villarruel Jr. and Erica (Michael) Abeyta; seven grandchildren: Raphael III,  Lissette, Ahliyah, Angelo, Jose, Yasmina and Makayla; two great-grandchildren: Zoey and Aria.

She is preceded in death by her parents and numerous siblings

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. til 11 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 7132 Arizona Ave, Hammond, IN 46323. A funeral Mass celebarated by Father Charles Mosley will follow at 11 a.m. with interment at Chapel Lawn cemetery, Schererville to follow.

Maria has been a resident of the Region since 1991. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for many of years. She loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Maria will be missed by all who knew her.
