Marion John Cudzilo, age 85 of Hammond passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Sophie
(nee, Nowak) Cudzilo;
2 sons: David (Cheryle) Cudzilo and Chris (Karen) Cudzilo;
2 daughters: Sue (Mark) Pierce and Mary Ann (Mike) Sobczak;
6 grandchildren: Matthew Cudzilo, Susan Sobczak, Patrick Cudzilo, Jackson Pierce, Michael Sobczak and Noelle Cudzilo;
many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Felixa Cudzilo; granddaughter, Athena Pierce and one brother, Walter Cudzilo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Il. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, morning, August 10th DIRECTLY at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Marion was a lifetime resident of Hammond and a 1945 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. He was a longtime faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Marion was a retired Captain and a 30 year veteran of the Hammond Fire Dept. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during WWII in the Asiatic-pacific campaign and a member of American Legion Post #369. Marion was an avid golfer, gardener and liked working with stained glass. He worked very hard around the house and also enjoyed baking and cooking. Marion was a very peaceful, quiet man who loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
