Marion Knapik, age 94, entered into the gates of heaven and was reunited with his beloved wife, Anne Marie and loving son, Kenneth on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
He is survived by 4 children: Marion Charlene (John) Kraulis,
Duane (Robin) Knapik,
Mary Sue (Cliff) Mason and Michael Knapik;
4 grandchildren: Ted (Michele) Kraulis, Emily (Rob) Larson, Cliff Mason IV and Sarah Mason;
2 step-grandchildren: Rick Poppa and Jennifer Hooks;
3 great grandchildren: Jake Larson, Joshua Mason,
Alyssa Kraulis; 2 brothers, Frank (Athen) and Walter (Janet) Knapik.
Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josephine Knapik, 3 sisters;
1 brother John (Betty) Knapik.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.

Born and raised in East Chicago, Marion has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. He has been a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for over 65 years. Marion was a devout catholic who loved his Lord and his church.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, as a Sergeant he served in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Marion worked for over 26 years at LTV Steel in the Electric Shop as foreman. After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Tucson, AZ, where Marion enjoyed golfing and woodworking. Marion was a talented musician and loved to play his accordion for family and friends. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
