Mary Ruth Harrington, age 95, of Hammond, entered into the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
She is survived by one son, Jon (Judy) Harrington;
2 Grandchildren: Chris (Maria) Harrington
Laurie Harrington;
2 step-grandchildren: Michelle May and Christopher Pitts
10 great grandchildren;
one great great granddaughter;
former daughter-in-law, Joie Harrington;
one sister, Clara "Beddie" Fletcher;
2 nieces, 4 nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Riley Harrington; parents, Benton and Clara Foust; brothers: William, Benton and Robert Foust.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. directly at First Baptist Church, Jack Hyles Memorial Auditorium, 523 Sibley, Hammond with Pastor John Wilkerson officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday morning, December 12, 2014 at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Crown Point.
Mary Ruth was a lifetime resident of Hammond. She has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church since 1948. She was a Sunday school teacher in the High School Dept. where she taught a class for Senior girls, a member of the Best Years Club, Women's Missionary Society, served as Treasurer for the W.M.S.; and was "Mother of the Year".
Mary Ruth was a graduate of Hammond Business College and was employed by the School City of Hammond, and later retired from P.A. Crowley as an accountant.
Mary Ruth was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord and her church. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and beloved friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
