Mary Hluska, age 92, of Hessville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2011.
She is survived by her four loving children:
Mary Margaret (John) Carr, Jane Anne (Ronald) Schlechtweg, John Edward (Denise) Hluska and Rosemary Hluska.
Six grandchildren: Rachel, Kim, Michael, Jill, Kristopher and Kimberly.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Edward Hluska; Granddaughter, Sarah Jane Schlechtweg; parents, Mike and Elizabeth Karczmar; and two brothers, John and George Vargo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Hammond where Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, John. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, May 10th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). There will be a time of viewing at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:00 a.m.
Mary was born in East Chicago and has been a lifetime resident of the region. She was a longtime faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Mary was past president of the Rosary Society whose members will offer prayers at the funeral home on Tuesday at 5pm. Mary retired in 1984 from Citizens Federal Saving and Loan in Hammond after 25 years of service. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the appearance of her home.
