Mary Rebecca Moyer (Nee Knew) , age 85, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 8, at Saint Anthony's Hospice in Crown Point, Indiana.
She was born on April 29, 1924 in Sullivan, Indiana to Mary Gertrude (Nee Burgess) and Lex Garrett Knew. In 1941, she married Elisha Moyer.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters, Darlene Bowens of Wilmington, N.C. , Jane Hearne of Merrillville, IN, Deborah Moyer of Hammond, IN, and Kim (Gary)Ohlemacher of Rosemount, MN. Seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and four great great- grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Elisha Moyer, an infant son Jimmy Joe, a grandson Danny Stahl, and sons-in-law Jerry Hearne, Harold Stahl, and Mozell Bowens.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 13, 2010 at 11am. DIRECTLY at the First Baptist Church of Hammond Jack Hyles Memorial Auditorium 523 Sibley, Hammond with Dr. Johnny Colsten Officiating. Followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery In Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, April 12,2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Mary also leaves behind her First Baptist Church family, where she was a member for 36 years and was part of the New Life Sunday School Class. She was affectionately known as "Sweet Mary" and loved to prepare pineapple upside down cake for friends, family, and neighbors.
