Mary Alberta Lahners, age 94 of La Porte, formerly of Hammond, passed away peacefully  on Sunday, October 21, 2012.
Mrs. Lahners is survived by3 children;
John(Beverly)Lahners , Carolyn (Fred) Hofmann and Ruth (William) Tucker.
9 Grandchildren; Amanda and Adam Lahners, Amber (Armand) Boudreau, Christopher and Patrick Hofmann, Amy(Eric) Goetz, Justin (Yaelle), and Dawn and Sarah Tucker.
11 Great Grandchildren; Gladys, Ray, Colin, Kirsten, Odin, Conner, Blain, Manuel, Christian, Lillian and Joie.
Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents John and Laura Vinson. Beloved husband Willie John Lahners on Jan 4, 2005. Brother Levin and sister Margaret Vinson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, October 23th at Bocken Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m.and 6- 8 p.m.
Mrs. Lahners was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area . She served our country during WWII as a Wave. Alberta was a former Girl Scout Leader, member of theCalumet Council and volunteer for voting at Riverside.  She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
