Matilde G. Lopez, age 99, of Lowell, formerly of Hammond entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 22, 2013.
She is survived by her loving family;
2 daughters: Margarita (Peter) Corpus of Round Rock, TX and Athalia "Tali" (Isidro) Rodriguez of Lowell, IN;
7 grandchildren
9 great grandchildren
1 sister, Antonieta Tobin of Lakewood, CA;
1 brother, Gilberto (Otimia) Guerra of Othello, WA;
Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Frank Lopez on May 31, 1997.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Carmelo Mercado officiating.
Prayer Service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.
Matilde has been a resident of the Calumet Area since 1952. She was employed for many years at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and also Gary Mercy Hospital. Matilde has been a faithful member of the Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served in various leadership roles including that of Deaconess, and was also a member of the Dorcas Women's Missionary Society.
Matilde was devoted to her church and her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her .
