May Rose Friend, age 86 of Ogden Dunes, formerly of Hessville passed away peacefully on Friday April 9, 2009 at Porter Portage Hospital. May is survived by her loving niece with whom she made her home, Sharon (Richard) Laczi of Ogden Dunes. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. May also leaves her favorite friends and companions Millie, Poncho and Buddy. Preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Sue (nee Arvay) Friend, 2 brothers Leonard and Earl Friend and 2 sisters Margie Blink and Gloria Graham. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10 AM at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue , Hammond (Hessville) with Father Larry Kew officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, April 13,2010 from 3pm until 7pm at Bocken Funeral Home. May was born and grew up in East Chicago, she spent her adult life in Hammond. May was retired from Inland Steel where she was a quality control tester for many years. She attended St. Catherine of Siena while living in Hessville. May is a member of the Inland 25 year club.
