Mayzie "Sandy" Tucker, age 76 of Hammond entered into eternal life on Thursday June 6, 2013 after battling cancer for over a year.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Wendell R. Tucker;
4 children: Randy Byrd,
Jewell (Aida) Tucker,
Terry (Yvonne) Tucker
Angie Evans;
12 grandchildren;
1 brother, Tom (Hattie) Martin,
4 sisters: Reba Mau, Murtle Ann Smith, Viola Phillips and Harriet (Ronnie) Masengill;
sister-in-law, Jane Martin;
brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Ruth Tucker;
2 cousins: Vickie (Greg) Stok and Cathy (Fred) Pannell;
and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Ginny Martin and brother, Conda Martin.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Cindy Ganz officiating. Private cremation will follow the service.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, June 9th at Bocken Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Sandy was a longtime resident of the Hammond area. She and her husband Wendell were former owners of Tucker's Tap in Hammond. Sandy was a member of the Moose Lodge #570 and an Axillary Member of the American Legion Post #232. Sandy loved to shoot pool and was a member of various pool teams. She took first place in the VNEA in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Sandy dearly loved her family, her home and working in her garden, where she grew beautiful roses. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
