Michael Thomas Kovacich, age 80, of Hammond, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020. Tommy as he was best known by his family and friends was preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife Ruby, after 47 years of marriage.  He is survived by his daughters: Michelle Berumen, Lori Ann (Mark) Thursby; grandchildren: Tammy (Randy) Wagoner, Michael Miller, Nicole Dongu, Ryan (fiancé Rachel) Berumen, Daniel (Kelly) Berumen; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Alice Kovacich; his brother Martin (Sonny) Kovacich, daughter Connie Vukovich and granddaughter Jennifer Fogarty.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 12 p.m. from Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, (Hessville) IN with Pastor Dennis Starkey officiating. Burial will  follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to meet with the family for visitation on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Please follow any current guidelines for social distancing.

Tommy's second family was the Ford Motor Company. He was a dedicated and loyal Ford man, retiring after 32 years of service. Tommy was always ready to share a laugh or joke with anyone, he loved to make people smile. Spending time with his family and friends gave him the greatest joy. You could always find him at a field watching one of his grandchildren's games or at a bowling alley supporting one of his many leagues. Tommy  was an avid Bears and Sox fan, always ready to support his teams through their ups and downs. Tommy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his dog Princess.
