Michael J. Rees, Sr., age 57, of Hammond, formerly of Burbank, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2013.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Brenda (nee, Baumgardner) Rees;
children: Michael (Michelle) Rees,
Melissa (James) Szczur,
Nicole (Nicholas) Erwin;
4 grandchildren: Jamie, Carinne, Elizabeth and James;
Brother, Dennis (Mary) Barrett;
2 sisters: Deanna Kruse and Cheryl (Gary) Martens;
Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline Rees.
Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Friday, December 27, 2013 from
4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville).
Private Cremation will follow the services.
Mike was born on February 11, 1956 in Chicago, IL, formerly of Burbank, IL.
Mike worked in the steel industry and retired after 25 years. His passion in life was cars, especially Ford Mustangs. Mike was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and a dear friend to many. Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
