Mildred Delores Liming Van Gorp, age 90, of Hammond went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 8, 2013.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss:
her daughter, Pat Coates (Nick Pagano);
Sons: Richard (Karen) VanGorp,
Robert (Melody) VanGorp,
Terry (Jane) VanGorp and Donovan VanGorp;
Daughter-in-law, Anita VanGorp;
15 Grandchildren;
19 great grandchildren;
sister, Helen VanScoyk;
2 brothers: Harold and Robert Liming;
2 sisters-in-law: Joyce and Barbara Liming;
numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Paul; son, Mark; parents, Carl and Ethel Liming;
brothers: Lloyd "Bud"and Donald "Joe" Liming.
Mildred was a founding member of Hessville Assembly of God Church where she faithfully taught Sunday school for many years and also prepared many church dinners. She was an excellent homemaker and was known by her family and friends as an outstanding cook and seamstress. Mildred was known for her delicious cookies and homemade buns. When her grandchildren were coming to visit she would always have cookies ready for them, and they knew just where to find them.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Life Point Church (formerly, Hessville Assembly of God), 7350 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond with Pastors Orlando Solar and Raymond Bocken officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, September 10th at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be viewing at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Mildred was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Calumet.
