Muriel M. Malinich, age 87, of St. John, formerly of Highland, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Septmber 30, 2014.

She is survived by one son: Martin (Denise) Malinich,

2 daughters: Karen (Jim) Fowler and

Carol (Len) Vanover;

7 grandchildren: Jill, Andy, Priscilla, Michael, Julia, Stephanie and Ryan;

niece, Sally (late, Mike) Malinich, Jr.;

nephew, Bobby (Harriet) Malinich;

Special friends: Teresa Gierlak and Dawn Springman, and her beloved dog, "Tiki".

Muriel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, George Malinich;  parents, Fred and Helen Welke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m . directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church , 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant.  Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation at the church Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the mass at 10:00 a.m.

Muriel was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. She and her dear husband were the founders and owners of Highland Jewelers for more than 45 years.  She was a lifetime member of Airstream Travel Trailer Club. Muriel was a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
