Nora Faye Mahler, age 73 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years,

Alfred L. Mahler;

7 children: Nancy (Donald) Taylor; Gayle Gibson;

Rodger (Terri Hayes) Mahler; Connie (Robert) McGahee;

Bonnie (Tom) Parrish; Martha Slaton and Melissa Mahler;

21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren;

Sister, Kathlyn (late, Edward) Hale; one brother, Luther (Mary Ann) Hamilton; many nieces and nephews

Preceded in death by her parents, James Robert and Martha Priscilla Hamilton; 2 grandsons: Curtis Mahler and Timothy Taylor; one great grandson, Mar'kee Slaton.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 from

2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Mrs. Mahler will be taken to Glenn Funeral Home, 900 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY (800-453-6662) where services will be conducted on Monday, March 7, 2011 with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Bells Run Cemetery in Ohio Co., KY.

Faye has lived in the Calumet area for over 55 years.

For several years Faye worked for the National Inquirer as an account checker. She was a member of the Bells Run Baptist Church. Faye loved gardening and country music. Her family came first in her life, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Faye was a devoted wife, mother and a loving grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
