Opal F. Ecklund (nee Horton), age 91, formerly of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully Sunday, February 7, 2016. She is survived by her children: John (Shirley) Young of Merced, CA, Ronald Young of Hammond, IN, Charles (Tammy) Appelquist of Indianapolis, IN and Sharon Appelquist (Dennis Harpole) of Chicago, IL. Grandchildren: Jason (Katie) Krasowski, Sonya (Jerry) McCormack, Lydia, Emma, and Raina Ozarowski, Lauren Appelquist, Chris Young and Nick Young. Preceded in death by her husbands, LeRoy Appelquist and Francis Ecklund; Son, James Young and Daughter, Donna Krasowski (nee Young) and son-in-law Jamie Krasowski.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2106 at 10:00 am at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Burial will follow at the Maplewood Memorial Cemetery in Crown Point, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday, February 12th  from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Opal was a long time active member of Terrace Park Church of God in Hammond, a member of the Women of the Church of God (WCG) and active in supporting activities at Yellow Creek Lake Campground – YCL Ministries in Indiana.
