Rev. Ossie Bewley, age 83, of Gary, entered into Heaven's gates on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 .

He is survived by his 2 sons: Franklin (Sandra) Bewley and James Bewley; 2 daughters: Nancy Lynn Johnson and Donna Ruth (Jose) Colon;

10 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren;

brother: James Tinker (Norma) Bewley, John (Terri) Bewley, Ralph (Linda) Bewley,

Sisters: Zula Cowles, Clara (Ma) Napier, Hazel (Tommy) Wilson.

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years Mary J, Bewley (nee Payton); son: Wilbert Wayne Bewley; parents: Wilbert and Millie Bewley;  sisters: Mae Doss, and Mary Bryant.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Larry Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Monday April 6, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.

Ossie was a long time resident of Gary, he proudly served our country during the  Korean war as a sergeant in the Army Company C, 509th  Infantry. Ossie enjoyed traveling to many churchs with his wife where they would sing and evangelize. He was a faithfull member of East Gary Gardens Church. Ossie doors were always opened to families in need in the East Chicago and Black Oak communities; he mentored and raised 41 children beside his own.

He was a loving Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
