Owen F. Carrico age 98 of Hessville, went home to Heaven  on Friday, December 9, 2011 while surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his one son Owen (June) Carrico Jr. of Lowell; one daughter Mabel (Late Ray) Boardway of Schererville; six grandchildren; Jill (Joel) Brandush, David (Lisa) Carrico, Tom L. Carrico, Julie (Peter) Richter, Debbie (Mike) Borsh and Kathleen (Dan) Sigstad;
12 great-grandchildren;
1 Brother; Walter Carrico
Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years Doris Maxine Carrico (Nee Roe), Parents;Willie and Mabel Carrico, brother; Verlus Carrico, sister; Kathryn (Rex) Ferguson and  sister in-law Mary Carrico.
Funeral service  will be held on Wednesday December 14  , 2011 at 11am DIRECTLY at the Memory Lane Memorial Park Chapel  6305 W. Lincoln Highway  Crown Point, IN 46307 with Dr. Jack Schaap and Dr. Johnny Colsten officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) on Tuesday December 13, 2011 from 4pm until  8 pm. There will be a time of viewing at the Cemetery on Wednesday morning from 10am until the time of the service at 11am.
Owen was born in Sullivan County, IN and has lived in the region for over 72 years. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hammond since 1955 where he served as an usher for many years.                                     He retired from Standard Oil Company in 1978 after 38 years of service as a Crane Operator. Owen was a Mr. Fix- it who collected and repaired washers and dryers and could fix about anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a very loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
