Ozzie Vander Sluis, age 59, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

Survived by one son, Peter (Kelly) Vander Sluis;

4 granddaughters: Viola, Ryleigh, Tori and Chloe;

1 brother, Peter (Laurie) Vander Sluis;

3 sisters: Ruth (John) McGriff, Mina (Jim) Anderson and Sylvia Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Alice Vander Sluis and one brother-in-law, David Edwards.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Ed Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.

Ozzie was born on January 18, 1956 in Holland and came to this country when he was 3 years old. He was raised in Lansing, IL and has been a resident of the Calumet Area for many years. He worked at American Steel Co. for over 22 years. He enjoyed listening to Country Music and watching football. The love of his life was his beautiful granddaughters. Ozzie was a kind and loving father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed. Memorials to the family would be appreciated.
