Paul Anthony Marcum Sr.

Paul Anthony Marcum Sr, Passed away on March 14, 2026, at St. Joesph Hospital, in Lexington Kentucky from complication of emphysema. He was a husband, son, brother, father, Papaw and a Great-Papaw and a friend to all he met. Paul was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help everyone.

Paul Anthony Marcum Sr. was born on July 22, 1956, at St. Margeret Hospital to parents, Hugh L and Virgina Marcum. Paul had five brothers; Hugh L Jr.; Tommy (Linda); Bobby (Teresa), Eddie and one sister; Brenda (Ron).

Paul worked at US Steel for 27 years as a crane operator. Paul joined the Army at the age of 17 years old. He was Stationed in Germany and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He served 3 years active duty and 5 years in the reserves. Paul was a paratrooper and was awarded; The National Defense Service Award for Markman M16.

Paul married his sweetheart Monica (Hayes) Marcum. They were married for 37 years. Their children; Ruthie (Rodney); William (Esmeralda); Paul Jr. (Jennifer)and bonus daughter, Veronica (Mexico) Guerrero.

Grandchildren: Karina Guerrero Peach, Christian Ramos, Madison Peach, Priscilla Mahler, Cecilia Peach, Casper Ramos, Timberleigh Marcum, Bryden Mahler, and Sierra Marrow.

Great-grandchildren: Axel Ramos and Sawyer Marcum.

Emotional support dog/pet: Monie-Girl.

Paul started his day with a coffee and cigarette. He preferred wearing a pocket t-shirt and a pair of good fitting jeans. He was a connoisseur of the flower bud. The pocket t-shirt was for his packet of cigarettes and a doobie. Paul loved being around his family and friends for cookouts and loved to eat good food while participating in chit-chat. He was a hard worker and provider to his family.

Paul Anthony Marcum Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh L and Virgina Marcum; brothers, Hugh L Marcum Jr.; Tommy Marcum; wife, Monica (Hayes) Marcum; grand- daughter, Karina Guerrero Peach.

Friends are invited to join the family at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, (Hessville) 46323 for a celebration of life service on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Stephanie Naumoff, officiating.
