Paul Stanley Panfil age 87, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 3l, 2012.
He is survived by his 3 children: Kathy Panfil of Hammond,
Judy (Jeff) Lane of Hanna, IN and
Paul T. (Debbie) Panfil of Hebron;
7 grandchildren;Tracy, Lisa, Vicki, Jeffery, Paul Jr, Jason, and Angie.
13 great grandchildren;
1 sister, Esther Bolek;
1 sister-in-law, Edna Panfil;
Many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel (nee, Armstrong) Panfil; parents, Albert and Hattie Panfil;
3 brothers: Leonard, Stanley and Harry; 3 sisters: Emily Lesczynski, Rita Grzych and Joan Tabaczyski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday,
November 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, November 6th
from 2:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) and on Wednesday from 9.30am until the Mass at 10am at the Church.
Paul was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. He was born and raised in Calumet City, IL and lived in the Calumet Area for most of his life. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served during WWII as a cook. Paul enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook. He was a member of American Legion Calumet Memorial Post #330 and a volunteer Fireman for the Calumet City Fire Dept. Paul retired from Inland Steel after 25 years of service. He was a faithful employee who enjoyed his work. Paul was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and St. Catherine of Siena Church, where he had served as an usher. Silver was an avid Cub's and Notre Dame fan. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorials to the family would be appreciated.
