Paul Prieto Sr., age 74, of East Chicago, was welcomed into the arms of God on Friday, July 31, 2015.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary L. Prieto (Nee Regalado); two sons: Paul (Amy) Prieto Jr., David Prieto; three grandchildren: Hannah, Cole and Morgan Prieto; one brother: Joseph "Lupe"(Juanita) Prieto; sister in law Amparo Prieto; brother in law Raul Benitez; many nieces, nephews, dear friends and Mr. Christian his cat.

Preceded in death by his; parents, Daniel and Soledad Prieto; sister, Antonia Benitez; five brothers: Felix, Danny (Julia), Matt, Ralph and Manual.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 with prayers at 9:15 a.m. from Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond (Hessville) to St. Patrick Catholic Church 3810 Grand Blvd. East Chicago, IN for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with father David Nowak, celebrant. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at 12:30 PM.  Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, August 4th at Bocken Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Rosary service at 5:00 p.m.

Paul was a lifetime resident of East Chicago, and a 1958 graduate of Washington High School.  He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War and in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Paul is retired from the City of East Chicago, sanitary department and is a member of Teamsters local 142. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society. He loved his church and was a religious man who was devoted to reading his Bible. Paul enjoyed watching westerns and war movies and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.  In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
