Pearl Phillips, age 95, of Connersville, IN, formerly of Hammond, entered into the gates of heaven on Tuesday, January 28, 2014.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Claudette (Lyle) Spaugh,
Frieda (William) Cummins,
Brenda (Richard) Kemp,
Tyonia (Dr. Russell) Hodges;
2 sons: Frederick (Janet) Phillips and Monty (Melissa) Phillips;
15 grandchildren;
22 great grandchildren;
6 great great grandchildren;
5 sisters, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Fred Phillips; 2 sons-in-law: Rev. James Stephens and Rev. Arthur Ervin; parents, Grover and Florence Walls; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Clint Kugler officiant.
Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Sunday, February 2nd from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Pearl was born on March 1, 1918 in Matoon, Il and lived in Hammond for over 60 years before moving to Merrillville in 2003 and then to Connersville in 2009. She was a hard worker and was employed as a baker for the Hammond School System until her retirement in 1985. Pearl was formerly a member of Dyer Community Church. She was a wonderful Christian woman who dearly loved her Lord and her church. She enjoyed reading and working word searches. Pearl dearly loved her family, she was a sweet and loving mother and grandmother to all her grandchildren who will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
