Raymond Carl Satterblom, age 93, was met in Heaven on Friday, July 27, 2012 by his Savior, Jesus Christ.  Left on earth to join him at a later time are his wife of 70 years,  Arlene Forster Satterblom, his children, Sharon Payne (Kurt) Calaway of Greenwood, IN, Sheryl Ginaven Sprague of Crown Point, Audrey Satterblom of Indianapolis, and Raymond Thomas (Nancy) Satterblom of Kouts as well as his "adopted" daughter, Kathy Dwenger (Randy) Langdon of Greenwood, IN. His ten grandchildren include Shelly Payne Hankla, Lisa Payne Baab, Kathi Payne Mackintosh, Gary and Greg Ginaven, Kyle, Nicholas and Kevin Satterblom and Alex and Peyton Ruble.  He also shared his life with twenty great-grandchildren.  Ray is survived by his brother, Paul (Gayle) Satterblom of Santa Ynez, CA and sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Leslie/Bud) Forster of Highland and Doris (Andrew) Tamminga of Peoria, IL as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Raymond was born on December 5, 1918 in East Chicago, IN and, though losing his hearing because of ear surgery at age five, he learned lip-reading and became an honor student at East Chicago Roosevelt High School, graduating class of 1937.  He was employed long-term at Blaw-Knox in East Chicago and was one of the original owners/founders of Thrifty Kleen Dry Cleaners in Highland.  For many years, Ray served the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church in Highland in various capacities and was a member of Bethel Church of Crown Point.  Having moved to Indianapolis he thoroughly enjoyed worshipping the Lord at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Indianapolis where he was a member.
Raymond and Arlene were long-time residents of Northwest Indiana in Griffith and Highland and had resided on Raccoon Lake in Rockville, IN before moving to Indianapolis two years ago.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29 with a Celebration Service on Monday, July 30 at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Rev. Brian Quinn.  Internment to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to be used at the discretion of the family, to the Ray Satterblom Memorial Fund.
