Rhonda Lynn Novac Nee Watson, age 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 19, 2012 at her home.
Rhonda was born on February 3rd,1953 in Anchorage, Alaska to Ron and Shirley Watson (Both deceased).
Rhonda grew up in Hammond where she graduated from Donald E. Gavit High School in 1971. While she was employed with Town and Country contractors she met her future husband Corney. She married Cornelius Novac on August 4th, 1974. She and Corney enjoyed traveling and attended many concerts together.Her one and only daughter Ingrid A. Novac was born on December 10th, 1980 and Rhonda became a devoted stay at home mom.She thoroughly enjoyed raising her daughter and passed many of her wonderful qualities down to her.On March 1st , 2003 her granddaughter Alyssa Lynn was born. She resided with her Nana and Pop and became the light of Rhondas life.Nana and Alyssa shared a very special bond.Rhonda returned to the working world at Van Til's in Hammond in the Seafood Dept. where many customers appreciated her vast knowledge of cooking.Rhonda's husband of 38 years Corney, preceded her in death in November 2009.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Ingrid Novac of Hammond; 1 granddaughter, Alyssa Lynn Wittig.
1 sister, Jacqueline (Dave Lightcap) McIntyre of Highland.
2 nephews; Joseph (fiancé Kristen Fleming) Mendola of Mobile, AL and Neil Lightcap of Highland. Extended family Janet and Tom Josway  and Denise and Dan Grabski and families.
Rhonda was a passionate cook, she hosted many occasions at her home where family and friends enjoyed everything Rhonda prepared, especially her legendary potato salad. She could always be counted on to bring something wonderful to share at any gathering. She also enjoyed watching old classic movies, special shows with Alyssa and gathering with family and friends for any occasion.  Rhonda was fiercly loyal and loving to her family and friends. She embraced life with quiet dignity, pride and perseverance.
Wife, mother, sister, Nana and friend rest in peace. With respect to Rhonda's wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial gathering will be held at a future date. The family would greatly appreciate your prayers and kindness. In lieu of flowers please direct your support to the family.
