Richard Nick Eelman, "Spuds" age 72, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest on Monday September 9, 2013.
He is survived by one niece, Cathy Yoos; one nephew, David (Anita) Addlesberger, three great nephews, John and Ryan Yoos, and Brian Addlesberger, great niece Amy Yoos and several  cousins and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Arie and Anna Eelman and one sister, Joan Addlesberger.
Services will be held on Thursday September 12,2013
at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Chaplin Nicholas Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Thursday September 12,2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Richard was born on August 20, 1941 in Hammond and made his home in the Hessville section. He retired 10 years ago from the City of Hammond Street Department. Spuds was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and he enjoyed going to the "boats". Rich was a devoted caregiver to his late uncle Nick Sopp. He never married and was very close to his family and friends
