Richard Carlton Kessler, age 75 of Highland, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, June 20, 2012..
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years,  Donna Marie Kessler (Nee Corman);
Children: Richard Kessler, Nanette (Ed) Betustak, Scott (Kelly) Kessler and Michele Kessler;  daughter-in-law, Janet Keys;
17 wonderful grandchildren: Andrew, Sophie, Samuel, Adam and Sarah Kessler, Randall and Jennifer (Tony) Wilson, Kevin and Melanie Kessler, Joshua, Jacob, Matthew and Zachary Betustak, Meghan, Michael, Markus and Mitchell Kessler;
1 great grandchild, Mason Kessler;
1 Brother, Bob Kessler;
1 niece, Beth Ann Walker and numerous cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his son, Randall Kessler; daughter-in-law, Ruth Kessler,;parents, Richard and Wynona Kessler and sister, Sandy Adams .
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at the First Christian Church of Hessville, 6733 Alabama Ave. Hammond with Dan Nichols, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, in Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at  Bocken Funeral Home. 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2pm until 8 pm.
and on Monday morning at the First Christian Church from 9am until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m.
Dick was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a long time member of the First Christian Church where he served as a Shepard. He was a 1955 graduate of Morton High School. Dick loved spending time with his family and got a kick out of teasing his grand children.
He enjoyed collecting sports cards and memorabilia, woodworking and making doll house furniture. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Black Hawks. Dick also enjoyed being active in sports and bowled for many years on the church league.  After 40 years of service as an operator he retired from American Maize in 1999. After his retirement he  enjoyed traveling with his wife;. Dick  was a very loving husband, devoted father, grandfather,great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to First Christian Church.
