Ricky Lee Slaven, age 39, formerly of Hammond passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Amy Slaven (nee Kolisz); three children: Jeffrey, Leah and Ava Slaven; parents: Jimmy Slaven and Cheryl Slaven; seven siblings: Johnny (Heather), Jerry (Dawn), Robby (Jackie), Danny Robinson, Lacee, Aaron and Alex Slaven; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by his stepmother, Lisa Slaven.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 for a time of visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Private cremation will follow.

Ricky was born and raised in Hammond, and was a 1995 graduate of Morton High School. Ricky was a member of the Chicago Pile Drivers Union #578, where he worked as a pile driver. He most recently worked as a welder for Hunt Industries, division, Advanced Vessel Alloy in Valdosta, Georgia. Ricky was a true sports fan that enjoyed watching all sports; but he especially was a true blue Cubbies fan. Ricky loved spending time with his family. He was a loving devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials to his children would be appreciated.
