Robert Castillo , age 67 of Hammond was called home on Sunday May 25,2014.
He leaves a loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Castillo (Nee Chepregi)
Six children: Michelle (Ambrosio) Perez, Roberta (Efrain) Cruz, Robin (Randy) Manning, Vanessa Lumbreras, Robert (Valerie Garcia) Castillo Jr. and Michael (Amber) Castillo; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons; siblings: Raymond (Jeanette) Castillo and Richard (Christine) Castillo; sister in law Darlene (Jeff Grimee) Haryasz; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends including best friend Jim (Margie) Segneri and his canine friends and companions
Jax and Mia.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents: Fidel and Catherine Castillo, daughter, Julie Castillo; son in law Rick Lumbreras; grandson, Anthony Castillo and uncle Julian Castillo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28,2014 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, (Hessville). Funeral services will be on Thursday May 29,2014 with prayers at 9.15 a.m. from Bocken Funeral Home to All Saints Church, 570 Sibley, Hammond, IN. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Father Steve Kosinski celebrant. Private cremation will follow.
Bob was a lifetime resident of the community, having been born and raised in East Chicago before settling in Hessville. He retired from Inland Steel in 1998 as an R.C. Operator. Bob was a member of the Inland Steel 25year club and past member of I.A.A. club.
He was a parishioner of
All Saint Church. Coach Bob as he was affectionately known loved sports and was a youth baseball coach for 47 years in East Chicago and Hammond. He won the Little League State Championship in 1974 for East Chicago Club Ki-Yowga. Many called him "DAD" as he
lived his life serving others and was generous with his time and spirit. He was huge New York Yankees fan and also cheered on the Chicago Bears,Black Hawks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Indiana University. Bob loved the oldies music and the Beatles. He was a loving husband , father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
