Robert C. Halder age 85 of Hammond , went home to Heaven on Friday, April 9, 2010. He is survived by his Son Robert J. (Babette) Halder of Lisle, IL . Granddaughter Blair Halder of Sandwich, IL.Sister In law Jan Halder,and Brother In Law Jim Roberts. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Vada Rae Halder in September 2000. One Brother Richard Halder. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 14,2010 at 1pm at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue , Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. James Thomson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Memory Lane Cemetery , Dolton , IL Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Tuesday April 13, 2010 from 5 to 8pm Bob had lived in the Calumet region for over 70 years. He was retired from Marcus supply company as a purchasing agent after 50 years of service . Bob was a proud Navy Veteran having served on the USS LCI 366 and LST 903, and was awarded numerous medals including a Purple Heart for his service during WWII. He enjoyed wood crafting, Stamp and Coin collecting,and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Bob was a deacon and faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hessville. A Past Scout Master of Troop 222. He was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather and will be dearly missed.
