Robert W. Murphy, age 81 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Monday October 18, 2010.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, La Verne L. (nee, Pouch) Murphy

Preceded in death by his daughter; Patricia Murphy Smith, brother; Donald Murphy, 2 sisters; Rosemarie Cornwall and Margaret Latzi, parents; John and Anna Murphy

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10am at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville)

Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, October 21 ^st from 4pm to 8pm. at the funeral home.

Murph was a lifetime resident of Hammond a graduate of Hammond High School and a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post #369 and the Goodfellows Club in East Chicago. For many years he worked in the auto industry as an auto parts manager. Murph loved his family and was always fun to be around. He enjoyed walking Whihala Beach with his sweetheart,

La Verne and spending weekends visiting with friends in Michigan.
