Robert D. Welches, Jr., age 66, of Hammond, passed away  at his home on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 with his loving wife Nancy at his side. Dave was a fighter to the end.

Leaving to mourn his memory are his children: Diana (Rick) Blanchard, granddaughter, Madison, son, Casey (Chrissy) Welches and granddaughters, Lily and soon to arrive, Isabella; Step-children: Jennifer (Richard) Boyd, Patrick (Kim) Fitzpatrick, Kevin (fiancé, Jenn) Fitzpatrick; five step-grandchildren: Matt, Christopher, Amorette, Morgan and Braxton; three great step-grandchildren; dear sister, Patricia (Ron) Waldier;nieces: Tracey, Christy and Patti; special friend and "partner in crime", especially when on the boat, Fran (late, Tom) Plavec.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Doris Christine (nee, Hartley) Welches.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Service at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry Starett officiating.

Dave has lived in the Calumet Area for over 40 years. He retired from L.T.V. Steel after 36 years of service. He loved to "tinker" and was always working on some project around the house. He enjoyed gardening. Dave will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
