Ronald J. Sovola, age 71, of Hammond, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Phyllis M. (nee, Dreggors) Sovola; son, Jason (Carrie) Sovola; one sister, Dwayne (late, Roger) Enyeart; sister-in-law, Audrey (Walter) Sabinske; numerous nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors, John and Mimi Smallwood; along with his loyal canine companion, Bridget.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Sovola.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at  Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. Private cremation will follow.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Ron was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. He was employed as an outside technician for Ameritech. Ron was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam war and a member of V.F.W. Post #8141 and American Legion Allied Post #369. Ron was an avid Chicago Bears fan and was the founder and president of the Hessville Bears Club. He enjoyed Las Vegas and visiting the casinos. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in favor of the Nazareth Home, P.O. 3067, East Chicago, IN 46312.
