Ruby Irene Kovacich

Ruby I. Kovacich, age 84, of Hammond, entered into the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Michael Thomas Kovacich "Tommy K"; two step daughters: Michelle Berumen and Lori (Mark) Thursby; five grandchildren: Tammy (Randy) Wagoner, Michael (Christine) Miller, Nicole Dongu, Ryan (Rachel) Berumen, and Daniel Berumen; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ulys and Jewel Cowsert; daughter, Connie (Tom) Vukovich, granddaughter, Jennifer Fogarty; three sisters; one brother and in-laws: Alice and Mike Kovacich.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 12 noon at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Dennis Starkey, officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon at Bocken Funeral Home.

Ruby was an area resident for the past 60 years. She had attended Cline Avenue Fellowship Church. When she was younger she enjoyed playing softball and bowling with Tommy K; one of her favorite past times was shopping the yard sales. Ruby was a true Chicago White Sox fan. Her family and especially her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren were the love of her life. Ruby was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
