Ruby G. Hobbic, age 100, of Griffith, formerly of Hammond passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Mary (Virgil) Van Der Wey of Munster;

2 sons, Charles (Sharon) Hobbic of Munster and Wayne (Judith) Hobbic of Leroy, IN;

9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren;

numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Charles in 2006; one daughter, Marilyn Hobbic; parents, Lon and Katie Speck; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Bro. Roy Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Sunday, October 30th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Ruby was born on July 30, 1911 in Flintville, TN and has lived in the Calumet Area for over 80 years. She has been a member of First Baptist Church of Hammond for over 60 years and joined the church when Dr. Miller was pastor. Ruby and her husband traveled to Florida, Minnesota and Southern Illinois where they enjoyed camping and fishing. Ruby was an excellent cook and her annual "fish fry" was not to be missed. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.
