Russell A. Fisher "Fish"

Russell A. Fisher, age 71, of Hammond passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 7, 2024. He is survived by his much-loved and devoted wife of 50 years: Linda Fisher (nee Crawford); daughter: Lynett (Daniel) Croyle; and two grand-daughters: Ellena and Elise Croyle. Preceded in death by his parents John and Vera Fisher; brother: John; sisters: Sharon and Debbie.

Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN 46323. A funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Best, officiating. Private cremation will follow.

Russell was born in Chicago Heights but moved to Hammond in 1959 where he attended Lafayette Elementary and then Hammond Tech High School. Hammond Tech is where he met his wife, Linda. They were inseparable even from the beginning and against all odds. Russell enjoyed camping, fishing, playing guitar with his friends, being outside in the sun and listening to the radio with a beer in his hand. Many nights you could find him sitting by the fire listening to the radio waiting for the sun to come up. Most of all he loved to spend time with his girls. In his later years, you could find him listening intently to his granddaughters talk about anything and everything. He always said he was grateful to be a grandpa and was thankful for the opportunity.
