Sevilla Jean Munger Mikula, age 78, of Hammond, passed into eternal life on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
She is survived by her two children: Justine (Scott) Paulin, Fishers IN and Judy (Martin) Morales, Hammond IN; three grandchildren: Julia Morales, Joshua Morales and Emaleth Mikula; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents: Millard and Irene Linebarger Munger; son, Joseph M. Mikula (Christine) of Dyer, IN.; brothers: Jack Munger, Serbring, FL and Millard (Sherma) Munger of Lusby, Maryland.
Friends and family are invited for a time of memorial visitation on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond IN, 46323. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Best, officiating.
Jean was born in Cassville, Missouri but grew up in Hegewisch and Calumet City, Illinois before making Indiana her home. She attended Henry Clay Elementary School in Hegewisch and graduated from T.F North High School in Calumet City. Jean attended the Don Roberts Beauty School in Calumet City as well. She also attended Purdue University, Calumet Campus in Hammond IN, and the University of Louisville, Shelby Campus.
Jean worked as a beautician for more than twenty years starting at Mode Beauty Salon in Hammond. She also had worked for the University of Chicago Publishing House and Handy Andy Improvement Centers in Munster, IN and Lansing, IL in cabinetry sales and design. Jean also worked for Kitchen Jewels, cabinetry and sales and the Huntingburg Press Travel Division while living in SW Indiana. Most of Jean's professional life was in purchasing. She worked for Queen Ann Candy, Taylor Chain Industry, Hammond, IN., ABC Rail Corporation, Chicago Heights, IL, Edward Gray Corporation/Graycor and Tootie Roll industries, Chicago, IL before spending seventeen years in Huntingburg, Indiana, working for and retiring from Farbest Foods Inc, as Purchasing Manager.
Jean was a member of Senior Promise of NWI and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in SW and NW Indiana. Jean was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the American Purchasing Society and the National Turkey Federation.
