Shirley Ann Burgess, age 80, of Hammond,  passed on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle against cancer.

She is survived by one daughter: Diana Burgess; two grandsons: Brandon (Rachel) Burgess and Jonathan (fiancée Jazmin) Burgess; one great granddaughter, Zoey Ann Burgess; one brother, Roger (late Deanne) Daniels; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bobby Gene Burgess; parents, Henry and Lucille Daniels; one sister, Joan Stacey.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation was private with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Shirley was born in Tamroy, WV and has lived in Hammond since the 1950's.  She married the love of her life, Bobby on July 24, 1958. Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker, working in the yard and being in the outdoors. She will be remembered as a faithful, loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
