Shirley Cathey Goodson, age 57, of Griffith formerly of Hammond, went home to her Lord and Saviour on Monday April 15, 2013  after a courageous battle against a terminal illness.
She is survived by her Mother, Rev. Shirley Goodson
1 daughter, Tracie (Carlos) Hernandez
1 son, David (Marchea Boyd) Fox
4 grandchildren: Sierra, Carlos, Ryan and Malayzia
1 Sister,  Lisa Goodson
3 Brothers:  Randy (Sue) Goodson, Gary (Cheryl) Goodson and Ricky (Joreen) Goodson
1 nephew, numerous nieces  and great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by 3 precious angels: Jason, Crystal and Kellie Fox, her father, Kenneth M. Goodson in 1997 and brother, Kenneth D. Goodson in 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from  Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue,  (Hessville) Hammond with Pastor Wanda Suttles   officiating. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, April 19,2013 at Bocken Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to4:00 p.m. and 6:oo p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Cathey was a born on March 15, 1956 and has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area.
She was employed at Hospice of the Calumet area for the past 5 years. She took great pride in her profession as a  compassionate  Hospice Palliative Certified Nurseing Assistant. Cathey enjoyed reading, listening to music, had a "crazy" sense of humor and always had to be color coordinated. She was devoted to her grandchildren., and enjoyed spending time with them.
Cathey was a loving mother, "Nana", daughter, sister and a dear friend to many.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Cathey's memory may be made to the family.
