Stase Kriauceliunas, age 96, of Highland, passed away peacefully in her home, while surrounded by her family on Thanksgiving evening, Thursday, November 26, 2015.
She is survived by her two beloved children; Nijole Macenas and John (Charlene) Kraulis; 4 grandchildren: Vaida (Steven) Andrews, Edmund (Debbie) Macenas, Ted Kraulis, Emily (Rob) Larson; 4 great grandchildren: Stephen and Mitchell Andrews, Jake Larson and Alyssa Kraulis; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in the USA, Canada and Lithuania.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Jonas Kriauceliunas, and parents, Petras and Mare Abraitis.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 2, 2015 with prayers at Bocken Funeral Home at 9:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Avenue, Highland, IN. Burial will follow at St. Casmir Cemetery in Chicago, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) for visitation on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Stase was born and raised in Lithuania. She settled in East Chicago where she and her husband lived for some 21 years before moving to Highland in 1971. Stase was retired from Jaymar Ruby in East Chicago where she was a seamstress for 30 years. Stase was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, growing flowers and tomatoes that she would give away. She was gifted with hospitality and her family was her life.
Stase was a very loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother who has shown much kindness and devotion to her family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials to Hospice of the Calumet Area would be appreciated.
