Stella Mechei age 97, of Munster formerly of the Hessville, section of Hammond passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2011.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, James;

one sister-in-law: Grace Irene Kosier of Valparaiso and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her daughter, Dr. Martha J. Mechei, her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at

10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with the Very Rev. Dobrivoje Milunovic officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond where Stella will be laid to rest next to her dear daughter, Martha. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.

Stella was born on January 13, 1914 in East Chicago and has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area.

Stella enjoyed being a homemaker and was a devoted wife and mother.
